Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule (11/28/2016)
The final Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule was signed on October 28, 2016 and published in the Federal Register on November 28, 2016. The rule becomes effective on May 30, 2017. Two key changes to the existing regulations applicable to Shepherd University’s current generator category are as follows:
- Replacing the term “Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator” (CESQG) with “Very Small Quantity Generators” (VSQG); and
- Allowing a hazardous waste generator to avoid the increased regulation of a higher generator category during episodic events, whether planned or unplanned, provided proper notification is made and management practices are followed.
