An official member is part of both the Sigma Tau Delta club and the honor society.  In order to be an official member, you must meet membership requirements:

Candidates for undergraduate membership must have a minimum of two college courses in English language or literature beyond the usual requirements in freshman English. The candidate must have a minimum of a B or equivalent average in English and in general scholarship, must rank* at least in the highest thirty-five percent of his/her class, and must have completed at least three semesters or five quarters of college course work. (Local chapters may raise, but not lower, these criteria.)  *This requirement may also be interpreted as "have an overall B average in general scholarship." (e.g., 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale).

As an official member, you are welcome to attend all Sigma Tau Delta meetings and  participate in any Sigma Tau Delta events. You may submit creative or critical works to the journal, present papers and attend the annual national conference, and apply for numerous scholarships and internships.

To join as an official member, please submit a completed application to Dr. Heidi Hanrahan. Qualified students will be asked to submit a check for $57.  Students will be inducted at the ceremony held in December or May.
