Dr. Christy I. Wenger currently holds the position of Assistant Professor and Director of Rhetoric and Composition in the Department of English and Modern Languages. She teaches first-year composition on topics such as writing about writing, food culture, and digital literacy, as well as advanced writing and rhetoric courses on the rhetorics of disability and illness and mindfulness and writing. Dr. Wenger received a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and an M.A. from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. She has published essays on the embodiment of teaching and learning and the role of emotion and the importance of contemplative education for writing studies. She has presented at national and international conferences, including the College Composition and Communication Annual Convention. Currently Dr. Wenger is involved in a book-length project that situates contemplative education and the practices of yoga and mediation within writing studies and is working on a series of articles about feminist writing program administration. When not teaching or writing, you can often find Dr. Wenger on a run or on her yoga mat.
