The Department of English & Modern Languages Shepherd University
Careers and Internships While a major or minor in English, Journalism, Technical Communication, French, or Spanish provides personal enrichment and a solid grounding in the liberal arts, many students want to know: how can I find a fulfilling job after graduation? Many careers are open to students who major or minor in English, who study languages, and who specialize in professional preparation in areas such as journalism or technical communication. One crucial key to successful preparation for a career is an internship. Internships are available through specific programs such as journalism and technical communication. English Education majors complete student teaching assignments. Shepherd's unique Washington Semester program offers students in our department an unparalleled opportunity to gain first-hand experience with top organizations. To learn more about careers, internships, and job searching, attend Dr. Tate's regular job search and resume/portfolio workshops.
