Spring 2006 Trip: Transcendentalist New England

T
ravel with us March 10-15, 2006, as we step into the world of the American Transcendentalists--Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Bronson and Louisa May Alcott, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Margaret Fuller . . . and more.

Above: Shepherd students and professors stand at the original site of Thoreau’s Walden Pond cabin in Spring 2002. One student reflected in her journal: “This could not be a better day. The snow and mist make the pond seem so intimate. There are so few people here; with the snow, it seems almost untouched. I am overwhelmed to have trod the same path that Thoreau did. How amazing to look through the trees at his cove. I love that we’re all here together. I feel like we’re such a community—a little family almost. I love the thought of living deliberately on this trip—I look forward to looking back on these words and remembering how close, comfortable, warm, cozy, and safe I feel—in this group—in the middle of a New England Winter.”

Cost of Trip Per Person: $550
Includes
round-trip motorcoach transportation, lodging, all meals, admissions.
Cost based on quad occupancy. Double and single occupancy also available at higher cost.
