A New Assessment Cycle Begins...
The Assessment Task Force and Center for Teaching & Learning are proud to announce that Assessment Reports were collected from nearly every department and academic support unit across campus for the 2006/2007 cycle. This is the best turn-in response rate for assessment reports in the 10 year period that Shepherd has been requiring and tracking assessment data. Reports were reviewed by members of the ATF and reply letters mailed to assessment facilitators outlining whether the report was accepted or more action was required. Thank you to everyone who has turned in report data for the 2006/2007 assessment cycle.
Now that the 2006/2007 cycle has come to a close, it is time to begin thinking of new ways to assess student learning in your department or area of academic support. We all contribute to student learning, retention and success in a variety of ways; reflecting on our contributions and examining ways to improve our programs is a crucial part of assessment and program growth across campus. Not only do the students benefit – assessment is a win/win situation for us all!
Plans for the 2008/2009 cycle were due May 1st but will be accepted until all have been received. If you discovered in your most recent report that you met your goals and outcomes for this past cycle, why not consider new means of assessment and adjust your Intended Student Outcomes (ISO’s) accordingly? If your report data showed that you still have a way to go before reaching the benchmarks you set in your last plan, keep trying to achieve those benchmarks and consider incorporating new means of assessment that may reveal new data!
Thanks to EVERYONE who worked to complete reports for the last cycle and especially to those of you who have been so timely in submitting a current plan!
