Where Does the Money Go?

The Center for Teaching & Learning and our affiliated offices support faculty, staff and students at Shepherd University in an increasing number of ways; from the First Year Experience & Common Reading Programs to Instructional Technology and A/V Services; campus-wide assessment to faculty development and training workshops, we are constantly creating and supporting programs that increase student learning, enhance teaching effectiveness, assess program success, and keep students engaged in their learning experiences at Shepherd. Funding from our annual budgets supports the following endeavors, to name a few:

  • Assessment projects and standardized assessment measures (MFT, SRI, CLA, ETS Proficiency Profile, NSSE, etc.)
  • Full-time and Adjunct Faculty training workshops, pedagogical series, seminar & conference travel
  • Licensing fees and enhanced classroom technologies
  • FYEX Interest Group & Learning Community instructors and operating expenses
  • Common Reading books & events
  • Media-related Convocation and Graduation expenses
  • Philosophy 100 instructor stipends and Learning Community instructor stipends
  • Academic Advisor stipends and Summer Advising Materials
