CLA

This spring we continued the ongoing effort of assessing cross-sectional populations of Shepherd students using the nationally recognized Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA) test. In March, 109 seniors completed the CLA, which is designed to test critical thinking, reasoning and communication skills that most agree should be the outcome of a college education. Results will be provided to Shepherd in an Institutional Report in the coming months and, combined with scores from freshman participants who took the test in the fall, can be used to measure our schools value-added on a comparative basis with other schools statewide and nationally.

Thank you to the following volunteers for their assistance in proctoring sessions of the test, which were conducted over the course of three days: John Sheridan, Gordon DeMeritt, Shannon Holliday, Lauryl Lewis, John Adams, and Kim Scranage.
