Upcoming Adjunct Faculty Workshops

The Center for Teaching & Learning hosted an adjunct training workshop in early August for newly hired part-time faculty. The workshop was offered before the start of the semester to help orient new faculty regarding issues related to Shepherd University students and the campus. Faculty who attended received a $100 stipend from the CTL budget, as well as a customized technology training session, led by Lauryl Lewis, Instructional Technologist for Shepherd University. Special thanks to the Shepherd Bookstore for sponsoring refreshment breaks during each workshop session! The Adjunct Training Workshop allowed new faculty to learn more about Shepherd University students, policies and operations before entering the classroom.

We will once again offer training workshops for new faculty hired for the spring semester. New part-time faculty cordially invited to our upcoming Adjunct Faculty Training Event in January. Please join us for one of the following sessions:

  • Friday afternoon, January 7, 2011
    • 1:00pm-4:00pm – The Workshop in Room 256 of the Scarborough Library
    • 4:00pm-5:00pm – Technology Training
  • Saturday morning, January 8th, 2011
    • 9:00am-12:00pm – The Workshop in Room 256 of the Scarborough Library
    • 12:00pm-1:00pm – Technology Training

You will receive information addressing common questions and concerns for Shepherd faculty, as well as a teaching text and guide. A portion of the workshop will be devoted to teaching tips and a Q&A session to help ease your acclimation to the Shepherd campus. Each attendee will also receive a $100 stipend for attending the workshop. RSVP by December 23rd to shollida@shepherd.edu.
We look forward to the upcoming spring semester and to getting to know you at this event created specifically with our new adjunct faculty in mind!
