Adjunct Faculty Training Events

The Center for Teaching & Learning hosted an adjunct training workshop in early August for newly hired part-time faculty. The workshop was offered to help new faculty learn more about Shepherd University students, policies and operations before entering the classroom. Faculty who attended received a $100 stipend from the CTL budget, as well as a customized technology training session, led by Lauryl Lewis, Instructional Technologist for Shepherd University. Special thanks to the Shepherd Bookstore for sponsoring refreshment breaks during each workshop session! Faculty members who attended in August include: Ellen Andersen, Jordan Bell, Deanna Christensen, Aaron Chumbris, Gary Cohen, Chuck Dormo, Ben Fischer, Sher Hendrickson, Barbara Irvine, Peggy Lovelace, Maureen Margevich, Marcia McKinley, Tim Meloni, Jay Menke, Stephanie Miller, Arthur Piszczatowski, Jennifer Pownell, Nona Oshman Reynolds, Cecilia Sanchez, Anne Smith, Andrew Thomann, Kathleen Thornton, Hannah Wilkes, and Ann Yaktine.

We will once again offer training workshops for new faculty hired for the spring semester. New part-time faculty are cordially invited to our upcoming Adjunct Faculty Training Event in January. Please join us for one of the following sessions:

  • Friday afternoon, January 6th, 2012
    • 1:00pm-4:00pm – The Workshop in Room 256 of the Scarborough Library
    • 4:00pm-5:00pm – Technology Training
  • Saturday morning, January 7th, 2012
    • 9:00am-12:00pm – The Workshop in Room 256 of the Scarborough Library
    • 12:00pm-1:00pm – Technology Training

Attendees will receive information addressing common questions and concerns for Shepherd faculty, as well as a teaching text and guide. A portion of the workshop will be devoted to teaching tips and a Q&A session to help ease the acclimation to the Shepherd campus.PleaseRSVP by January 3rd to shollida@shepherd.edu.
