Adjunct Faculty Training Events
Adjunct Training Workshops
The Center for Teaching & Learning hosted an adjunct training workshop in January for newly hired part-time faculty. The workshop was offered to help new faculty learn more about Shepherd University students, policies and operations before entering the classroom. Faculty who attended received a $100 stipend from the CTL budget, as well as a customized technology training session, led by Lauryl Lewis, Instructional Technologist for Shepherd University. Special thanks to the Shepherd Bookstore for sponsoring refreshment breaks during each workshop session! Faculty members who attended the January 2012 session include: Laura Bergmann (HPERS), Dana Care (PSYCH), Kristen Combs (ENGL/ASC), Denise Holmes (PSYCH), Nataliya Self (MATH/ASC), Shanan Spencer (PSYCH), John Swift (ENVS), and Christine Taylor (HPERS).
Another training event will be scheduled for new adjuncts in August. Please send the names of any new part-time faculty you have hired to teach fall 2012 to email@example.com so that we may notify them of the training sessions. Attendees will receive information addressing common questions and concerns for Shepherd faculty, as well as a teaching text and guide. A portion of the workshop will be devoted to teaching tips and a Q&A session to help ease the acclimation to the Shepherd campus.
