Outstanding Faculty Awards

All materials due to the Center for Teaching and Learning no later than April 1, 2014.

Outstanding Teacher Award Submissions:

Each Dean solicits nominees from chairs and faculty in their schools or areas.  Faculty may also self-nominate or nominate each other.

Nominees must be full-time, tenure-track faculty members during the previous academic year.

A current vita for each nominee must be submitted.

Teaching evaluations for the most current year must be submitted.

A statement or letter (from the nominator) explaining why the faculty member has been nominated for this award must be submitted. It is suggested that you focus your nomination letter on student evaluation comments and new learning initiatives (i.e. learning communities, research mentoring, experiential learning opportunities).


Outstanding Scholarship Award Submissions:

Each Dean solicits nominees from chairs and faculty in their schools or areas.  Faculty may also self-nominate or nominate each other.

Nominees must be full-time, tenure-track faculty members during the previous academic year. 

A current vita for each nominee must be submitted.  Scholarship conducted during the current year must be outlined on this document.

A statement or letter (from the nominator) explaining why the faculty member has been nominated for this award must be submitted.  It is suggested that you focus your nomination letter on publications, presentations, grants and creative activities.

 

Outstanding Service Award Submissions:

Each Dean solicits nominees from chairs and faculty in their schools or areas.  Faculty may also self-nominate or nominate each other.

Nominees must be full-time, tenure-track faculty members during the previous academic year. 

A current vita for each nominee must be submitted.  Service conducted during the current year must be outlined on this document.

A statement (from the nominator) explaining why the faculty member has been nominated for this award must be submitted.  It is suggested that you focus your nomination letter on service to the University and the community or region.

 

Outstanding Advising Award Submissions:

Each Dean solicits nominees from chairs and faculty in their schools or areas.  Faculty may also self-nominate or nominate each other.  Nominees must be full-time, tenure-track faculty members during the previous academic year. 

A current vita for each nominee must be submitted.

Advisor evaluations for the most current year must be submitted with your application.  These will be coming to you via email from Dr. Robert Warburton.

A statement (from the nominator) explaining why the faculty member has been nominated for this award must be submitted.  Preference will be given to a faculty member who can prove advisee retention and success are linked directly with advisor support, guidance and exemplary knowledge of campus resources.  It is suggested that you focus your nomination letter on these items.

Any optional advising supporting materials are welcome. 

 

Additional Information about the Outstanding Faculty Awards Process:

The Center for Teaching and Learning Awards Committee will meet in April and select a winner in time for the McMurran Convocation.
The winner will wear a special medal at the McMurran Convocation and at Commencement.  The medal will indicate the award and the year received.
The winner’s name will be listed on an award plaque displayed in the Learning Commons.
The winner will receive a $500 professional development stipend through the Office of Academic Affairs.

The Outstanding Advising Award recipient is selected by the Academic Advising Committee chaired by Dr. Robert Warburton, Assistant Dean of Teaching and Learning.

All other awards are selected by the Center for Teaching and Learning Awards Committee:

Dr. Laura Renninger (non-voting), facilitator
One designee from Enrollment Management
One designee from Student Affairs
One Clinical Faculty Member (non-tenured)
One Professor Emeritus
Four first-year faculty members from the New Faculty Learning
Community (each representing a school)
