Beginning August 2009 the Department of Communication will be offering a Major in Communication New Media with concentrations in Digital Filmmaking, New Media and Media Studies. Take a look at the new curriculum.

Mass communication and digital communication are changing the ways that people generate, disseminate, receive, and use ideas. Who could have predicted the influence of media like YouTube and myspace.com even five years ago? The mass communication program accounts for these changes by offering a curriculum that is focused, fundamental, and flexible. (And let's not forget challenging and fun.)

Here at Shepherd, our curriculum is grounded in student participation and empowerment, and provides students with the skills necessary to communicate effectively using state-of-the-art technologies. At the same time students learn to critically assess how new media infuses and impacts their lives.
