SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Common Reading Program will host a native plant talk by local herbalist Amanda Adkins Wednesday, January 29 at 6 p.m. in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies auditorium.

In the Common Reading “Strange As This Weather Has Been” by Ann Pancake, native plant lore, harvesting methods, and medicinal uses are important cultural knowledge for many of the characters. Often these skills are passed down from generation to generation.

Adkins will identify some beneficial Appalachian plant species and share her knowledge of this time-honored wisdom.

The event is free and open to all. For more information call 304-876-5461.
