SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Common Reading program is hosting a presentation titled “Youth and Crime Recidivism” on Monday, March 20, at 6 p.m. in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education auditorium. This event, which is sponsored by the Shepherd University Foundation, is free and open to the public.
Dr. Erin McNett, assistant professor of forensic and legal psychology at Marymount University, will give an introductory presentation on assessing risk for reoffense and violence in offenders who committed their crimes as juveniles. McNett will give examples of cases to stimulate discussion of sentencing that fits with the themes in this year’s common reading book, “Just Mercy,” and criminal justice in general.
