Shepherd Open Math Contest

The Shepherd University Mathematics department is continuing a mathematics contest, called the Shepherd Open. This will be an additional chance for the high school students to compete, other than the already existing Math Field Day. The 11th Annual Shepherd Open Mathematics Contest is between January 30 and February 20th, 2017. Problems and Solutions from previous years can be seen in the details link below.

About us

Welcome to the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Engineering! We offer a variety of degree options including B.S. in Computer Engineering, B.S. in Mathematics, B.S. in Computer and Information Sciences, and B.S. in Computer Information Technology. We are confident that our programs and the flexibility that we offer in many different technical areas will spark high demand from employers all across the United States.

To enhance the education of students by instilling in them the love and excitement of the mathematical, computer, and engineering sciences and their applications.

To prepare students for employment and productive careers.

To promote lifelong learning and provide students with the expertise and knowledge to continue their education at the graduate level.


S-STEM Scholarship

The CME department has been awarded an NSF S-STEM grant totalling $627,010 for June 2013 through May 2018. The awards are both merit- and need-based. Both new and continuing students are eligible to apply. Recipients will be awarded a maximum of $10,000 depending on individual demonstrated financial need. Shep Robofest 2017

Annually, the CME department and Shepherd University hosts Shep Robofest. This year's fest is April 1st and 2nd. For more information or to register for the Fest, go to our website located here!


NASA-SNSM Research

In cooperation with the West Virginia Space Consortium, the CME department offers yearly fellowships for undergraduates to pursue independent research projects with the help of faculty and staff. Applications typically open early in the fall semester and the research culminates with a convention at the annual NASA day. NASA WVSGC Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program

The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) is currently accepting applications for its 2018 AFRL Repperger Research Internship Program. This civilian research opportunity is a 10-week summer program intended for MS/PhD candidates pursuing degrees in STEM. Each year the laboratory will appointment a couple exceptional undergraduate students into the program.  There are 36 posted opportunities, once the application January 21, 2018 deadline passes, each application will be reviewed and AFRL will fund 15 participants for the summer period.  Check out the opportunity catalog to review all of the available opportunities, there are available research opportunities in nearly every STEM field! Please apply to no more than (3) Repperger opportunities and only apply to opportunities in your applicable educational background.
