SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Center for Teaching and Learning is celebrating its fifth anniversary in the Carper Commons on the lower level of the Scarborough Library by hosting an open house on Friday October 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Dr. Laura Renninger, dean of teaching, learning and instructional resources, said the goal of the open house is to make students, faculty, and staff more aware of what the center offers.

“We realized that a lot of folks don’t know everything that we do here, and we’re pretty busy and pretty active, and involved in various facets of campus activities,” she said. “So we wanted to open our doors, show people what we do. They can see some of the audio/visual resources available.”

The Center for Teaching and Learning offers several services for students and faculty, including:

Renninger said the center also operates the EduTech center, a room on third floor of the library that folks can book for up to two hours at a time so they can learn how to use various kinds of technology.

“We have a ton of technology in there that professors, students, and community members can use to practice so they can feel comfortable,” Renninger said.
