Meeting of the
BOARD OF GOVERNORS
July 10, 2003
Agenda Item No. 5
PRIORITIES FOR INCREASING BOARD FLEXIBILITY
At the June meeting, Andy Michael briefed the Board on his recent meeting with Delegate Mezzatesta. The Chair of the House Education Committee has expressed concern for advancing the legislative goal of local autonomy and has asked that each Board submit its five highest priorities for further legislative changes to enhance local flexibility. At the July Board meeting, each committee will be given the opportunity to discuss possible legislative proposals that relate to that committee's area of responsibility.
If members are able to reach a consensus on five areas of priority for legislative changes, then the following resolution would be recommended for adoption by the Board:
RESOLVED, That the Shepherd College Board of Governors authorizes the Chair to write a letter on its behalf identifying five priorities for legislative changes to enhance Board flexibility.
