Mission Statement Our purpose is to provide support services for students of all abilities, but especially for those who need assistance making the transition from high school to higher education. We offer tutoring, testing, advising and developmental programs in order to accomplish our mission. Tutoring. All students benefit from individualized instruction. We stand at the crossroads between the student and the classroom in order to assist students --
In addition to helping student patrons, we work to help student tutors develop as professionals by offering them training. If you are interested in working as a tutor, you need to meet the following criteria: 1) Full time student at SU, 2) GPA of 3.0 or higher in the subject you will tutor, and 3) the grade of A or B in the classes you will tutor, and 4) a recommendation by a faculty member. Testing. We help students explore the options available to them when their ACT/SAT scores place them below GS courses in Math and English. We offer placement testing and advising on their options. Advising. In addition to offering advising for math and English placement, we offer advising for students with GPAs less than 2.0. We help them identify behaviors and choices that they can adopt in order to promote academic success. Stretch-model Classes. We offer the following classes for students who need a review of high school material in math and/or English:
