SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Department of Contemporary Art and Theater will sponsor an Art Market on Friday, December 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Center for Contemporary Arts, room 112.

Students, faculty, and alumni will be selling original and unique art work. Art Market is an opportunity to explore the Center for Contemporary Arts, talk with students and faculty, and support the arts.

With a focus on contemporary practice, the Department of Contemporary Art and Theater has been recognized as a Program of Distinction by the state of West Virginia. Students’ work has been featured in regional exhibitions and national competitions. Using a variety of stylistic approaches, these conceptually driven artists work in a wide range of materials, media, and concepts.

Guest artists include former graphic design faculty member Melissa Scotton, founder of the Art Market. Scotton will bring her current product line to the market. Alumna Vanessa Rees, a nationally celebrated photographer, will be on hand with some of her work. A group of graphic design students will offer unique posters for sale with the proceeds benefiting Shepherd’s Relay for Life.

Parking is limited near the Center for Contemporary Arts, but guests may park in the nearby lots on West Campus after 4 p.m. without a Shepherd University permit.
