SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Department of Music is hosting its annual holiday gala concert, Seasons of Light, on Saturday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 7 at 3 p.m. in the Frank Center Theater.
This holiday musical tradition at Shepherd weaves stories and poetry about light in a season of reflection throughout history and culture with a rich tapestry of musical offerings. The concert will feature performances by the Shepherd University Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Scott Hippensteel, assistant professor of music; the Shepherd Jazz Ensemble directed by Dr. Kurtis Adams, assistant professor of music; and the Chamber Singers, Camerata Singers, Men’s Choir, and Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Erik Jones, associate professor of music, with narration by Dr. Rob Tudor, associate professor and chair of the Department of Music.
The Sunday matinee will offer a special treat for children. In addition to his concert performance, Tudor will lead a sing-along, and music fraternities Eta Tau Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota and Xi Epsilon Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia will host an instrument “petting zoo” for all ages. A special guest appearance by Santa Claus also is planned.
General admission for Saturday evening is $20; $18 for faculty, staff, seniors over 55, and the military; $10 for age 18 and under; and free for Shepherd students with a valid Rambler ID.
