ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS AND SELECTION PROCESS

Hall of Fame membership shall consist of former Shepherd University student-athletes, former Shepherd University coachers and others who have made exceptional contributions to the athletic program.

Eligibility
Student Athletes:
1. A candidate must have been a student-athlete as documented by University or media records.
2. A candidate must have been graduated from Shepherd University; however, the selection committee may waive this requirement.
3. There must have been a ten (10) year lapse since the candidate last participated in athletics at Shepherd University.
4. While athletic achievement as an undergraduate shall be primary, outstanding accomplishments after leaving Shepherd may also factor in the selection process.
5. Alumni-student athletes, actively serving on the HOF board of directors, may not be candidates for induction.

Coaches:
1. A candidate must have been a coach as documented by University and media records.
2. A five (5) year lapse must have occurred since the candidate last coached at Shepherd University.
3. Coaches who are actively serving on the HOF board of directors may not be candidates for induction.
4. Consideration for the selection shall include recognition as an authority/leader in the area/sport involved, length and quality of the coaching record, program growth and individual achievement after leaving active coaching service at Shepherd University.

Others:
1. Others who have made exceptional contributions to the athletic program may be candidates.
2. Others who are actively serving on the HOF board of directors may not be candidates for induction.

Active Board members may not nominate candidates for induction.

Selection
A special meeting to select inductees shall be held after the deadline for nominations (June 1_. Board members will vote for nominees (not more than 6). Those nominees receiving a majority of the votes will be inducted at the next Hall of Fame Banquet. In case of a tie, a re-vote will occur.

Nomination forms for candidates not inducted in the HOF will remain actively eligible for five (5) years. Those candidates not selected within the five-year period may be re-nominated.
