A HISTORY OF THE ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

The Shepherd College Athletic Hall of Fame was founded in 1985 by the Director of Athletics,
Dr. Michael Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs was responsible for establishing the initial Selection Committee.

The Selection Committee developed the criteria used to determine eligibility, number to
selected annually, awards to be presented, and form for the awards ceremony. Eventually,
the Selection Committee would be increased to 14 members, as set forth by the Hall of Fame
by-laws. The By-laws changed the name of the Selection Committee to the Board of Directors,
   as it is known today.

In the spring of 2004, Shepherd College became Shepherd University. Thus, the Board of
Directors of the Athletic Hall of Fame approved the name change to Shepherd University
   Athletic Hall of Fame.
