*7:00 p.m., Friends of the Library Literary Discussion:  Farewell, I'm Bound to Leave You. (War Memorial Building), Discussion and Reception Open to the Public

Wednesday, September 29, 2004:

            Outreach Activities at Shepherd University

            *7:00 p.m., Cumberland Writer's Workshop, "The Writing Life."  College Center.              

Thursday, September 30, 2004:

            Outreach Activities at Berkeley County Senior Center

        *8:00 p.m. "Stories from the Blue Valley," Phi Kappa Phi/Scarborough Society Lecture.  Presentation of the Appalachian Writer's Award, Kenynote Address, Public Reception, and Book Signing.  Shepherd University Storer Ballroom. 

Friday, October 1, 2004:

            Outreach Activities and Interviews

*8:00 p.m. 9th Annual Appalachian Heritage Festival Concert (recorded by Smithsonian for their archives and for the Library of Congress archives). Fred Chappell will present a 20-minute segment as part of the Friday evening festival concert; he will also present awards to the winners of the West Virginia Young Writers Fiction Competition.

Saturday, October 2, 2004:

            *Morning at the Appalachian Heritage Festival Activities.
