ACADEMIC LOAD http://catalog.shepherd.edu/content.php?catoid=2&navoid=96 Twelve semester hours constitute a minimum full-time academic load. Fifteen semester hours constitute a full-time academic load for Higher Education Policy Commission FTE counts and funding. The normal load is 16 hours per semester, thus completing 128 hours in four years. One hundred twenty-eight hours are required for a bachelor's degree. Degree-seeking students may register for a maximum of 19 semester hours per semester; how- ever, the academic load for the first semester should generally not exceed 17 hours. The maximum of 19 semester hours does not apply to private applied music lessons and ensembles. The maximum academic load in the summer is 14 semester hours overall (7 semester hours per session).
