At Shepherd University, your son or daughter can work with talented faculty in small classes, earn a four-year college degree that will open the doors to exceptional career possibilities, and enjoy the complete college experience of living on campus, all at a low, public university cost. Even if you're out of state, you may find Shepherd costs less than your state school. Plus, a full range of need- and merit-based financial aid is available.

...Academic Options
We offer more than 75 academic programs, including music, nursing, art, and education programs renowned in the region. Research opportunities and a wide variety of paid and unpaid internships connect students to the area's rich natural, cultural, and historical resources as well as to the resources of Washington, D.C.

...Personal Attention
From our helpful admissions and financial aid staff to dedicated professors who take the time to truly get to know each student, individual attention is a hallmark of the Shepherd experience. First-Year Learning Communities and the first-year residence halls ease the transition to college. Faculty/student projects and the Honors Program create further opportunities for students to work with those who share their interests.

...Safety and Security
Shepherd University's small, friendly campus opens into the classic college town of Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Crime is very low, and students enjoy the comfort of being surrounded by people they know. In addition, residence halls require ID for entrance and there is 24-hour campus security.

...Leadership Opportunities
Students at Shepherd run dozens of clubs, organize service projects, challenge themselves in 11 NCAA Division II varsity athletic teams, and work with campus organizations such as the newspaper, radio station, and student government. Learning to live together in a residence hall also builds interpersonal skills.

...Life Opportunities
A Shepherd education is an invaluable investment in your son or daughter's future. Entrepreneurs, nationally known scientists, award-winning artists, teachers, lawyers, and the youngest U.S. Secret Service agent ever are just a few who got their start here. Our students also enjoy early acceptance to WVU's medical, dental, and pharmacy schools.
