In a historic town just outside the nation's capital you'll find something quite unexpected. The attention of a small private college. The resources and programs of a comprehensive university. At the cost of an affordable public education.

An Education for Life
For more than 135 years, Shepherd University has been educating young people in the tri-state region and beyond. Students gain a well-rounded base of knowledge that supports their major studies and hones the analytical and communication skills that will serve them in any profession.

Resources
In addition to off-campus options for research, internships, and study abroad, students enjoy a full range of comprehensive resources at Shepherd University. These include a brand new nursing center with specialized classrooms and labs, state-of-the-art labs in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Science and Technology, nationally accredited education programs with a nursery school on-site, drama and literature programs that bring nationally recognized playwrights and poets to campus, the Center for the Study of the Civil War, the Institute for Environmental Studies, and a new Center for Contemporary Arts.

After Shepherd
You'll run into Shepherd business, recreation, fitness, and history graduates throughout the country. Art alumni exhibit, teach, and win awards nationally. Johns Hopkins, the National Institutes of Health, and many regional employers seek Shepherd nursing, chemistry, and biology graduates. Education alumni fill public schools in the tri-state area as teachers and administrators. Shepherd social work graduates hold leadership positions in social service organizations and facilities throughout the region.

Several students have jobs before they graduate, at organizations such as CNN, the Department of Energy, Lockheed Martin, the National Park Service, Verizon, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Shepherd students also succeed at graduate, law, and medical schools such as Georgetown University, Penn State's Dickinson School of Law, the University of Virginia, and New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. As a Shepherd University graduate, your son or daughter will be among many successful individuals.
