Academic Suspension

The student placed on probation prior to the beginning of the fall semester must attain a 2.0 GPA on his or her combined hours for the fall, spring, and (if eligible) the following summer session(s) to avoid suspension and be eligible to return for the following fall semester. Failing to meet the minimum GPA for these terms will result in suspension.

The student placed on probation prior to the beginning of the spring semester must attain a 2.0 GPA on his or her combined hours for the spring and (if eligible) the following summer session(s) to avoid suspension and be eligible to return for the following fall semester. Failing to meet the minimum GPA for these terms will result in suspension.

Summer School: Students in First Suspension, who have earned a minimum 1.75 Shepherd GPA in the appropriate Fall and/or Spring probation semesters will be allowed to amend their academic year GPA by attending either one or both summer sessions at Shepherd* immediately following notice of suspension. Academic status will be reviewed at the end of the summer session(s).

*A GPA deficiency at Shepherd University cannot be amended by coursework taken at another institution.
