Welcome to the Shepherd University Academic Affairs Web site!

We have exciting programs here and we hope you will spend some time exploring everything Shepherd has to offer. Shepherd University is a small public liberal arts institution in the Eastern Panhandle of the state with close proximity to major metropolitan areas like Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.

The University offers baccalaureate degrees in a wide range of fields, encompassing the liberal arts, business administration, teacher education, the social and natural sciences, and other career-oriented areas. We also offer selected graduate programs in education and business. We have a strong commitment to civic engagement and experiential learning through internships and co-ops which provide practical experience as you transition into your career.

Shepherd University's goals and five core values of learning, engagement, integrity, accessibility and community shape our student's educational experience and prepare our students to be contributing citizens globally, in their communities and professions.

Shepherd has most recently been accepted as a member of Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC). COPLAC's mission is to identify and support high quality public liberal arts and sciences institutions. This is an honor reserved for one institution per state and represents our University's focus on traditional liberal arts disciplines; opportunities for student and faculty interaction; a critical mass of students in a residential environment; student participation in co-curricular activities such as band, campus newspaper and radio, theater, and debate; and a clear commitment to cultural diversity.

I hope you will spend some time visiting us through to web-site but will also make an appointment to visit our campus. You will find Shepherdstown a very charming community with a thriving arts scene and quaint shops on our main street, German Street. I look forward to seeing you on campus!
