CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Oct. 12) --The Shepherd College women's tennis team ran into a buzzsaw when they faced West Liberty State in Charleston today. The undefeated Hilltoppers concluded their perfect sweep of the West Virginia Conference with a 7-0 win over the Rams. Shepherd falls to 5-5 in the WVIAC, while West Liberty improves to 10-0.
The conference tournament begins tomorrow with West Liberty being the heavy favorite to win the team title. The University of Charleston and West Virginia Wesleyan will most likely be battling for second place. Shepherd will have Fairmont State, West Virginia Tech, and Concord as close rivals in the 11-team tournament.
