David Trail

Head Coach

David Trail enters his first season as head coach of the Shepherd College softball team.

Trail, a 1978 graduate of Shepherd, brings a great deal of softball experience as both a player and a coach. A standout pitcher, Trail was recently nominated for induction into the Greater Washington Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame. He compiled a career pitching mark of 600-181(.768) with 31 no-hitters and five perfect games. Trail was a member of the West Virginia ASA/ISC State Champions for 11 years. He also was a team member for the Virginia State Champions for four years, the West Virginia State Champions for three seasons, and the Metropolitan DC Champions for two years.

For the past three years, Trail has worked with the pitching staffs from Clear Spring (MD), Martinsburg (WV), and Jefferson County (WV).

Trail resides in Halltown with his wife, Nancy.
