(SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV) -- John Kuhn rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries to lead Shippensburg University to a 33-14 win over Shepherd in The Great Valley Classic at Ram Stadium on Saturday.

The Red Raiders also got a strong effort from Brent Grimes. Grimes had a pair of interceptions, including a 23 touchdown return. He also added three punt returns for 59 yards.

Shepherd scores came on a 14-yard run by senior running back Travis Lynch (Ridgeley, WV/ Frankfort HS) in the first quarter and a 36-yard pass from junior quarterback Tony Fenoglio (Terre Haute, IN/Terre Haute South Vigo HS) to redshirt-freshman wide receiver Anthony Thomas (Keysville, VA/Randolph-Henry HS) in the fourth quarter.

The Rams defense was led by sophomore linebacker Jeremy Bailey (Culpeper, VA/Culpeper HS) with a game-high 11 tackles. Bailey also had an interception. Senior defensive lineman Jason Morris (Walkersville, MD/Walkersville HS) and senior defensive back Matt Meadows (Romney, WV/Hampshire HS) added 10 stops each.

Chris Leonetti led the Red Raider defense with six stops, including two tackles-for-loss.

Shippensburg improves to 1-0, while Shepherd falls to 0-1. The Rams return to action next Saturday when they travel to Virginia Union for a 1:30 p.m. contest.
