SHEPHERD DEFEATS HOOD

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV -- Scott Eyler's homecoming was upended by a strong Shepherd squad here on Thursday when the Ram men's tennis team defeated his Hood College Blazers by a score of 6-0.

Eyler played for Coach Chris Stambaugh at Shepherd from 1998-2002 and was a member of the 2002 West Virginia Conference championship team. This match marks the first time Stambaugh has ever faced a former player as a coach.

"I recruited Scott a few years ago with the thought that he showed a lot of promise as a player," said Stambaugh. "He ended up leading us to a title four years later. Hood is just beginning their program and I think that Scott will have a greatly positive effect on them as well."

The Rams improve to 13-1, while the Blazers fall to 1-2.
