Joseph Okoh
Head Men's Soccer Coach
Joseph Okoh enters his sixth season as head coach for the Shepherd men's soccer team.
Okoh led the Rams to their first-ever national ranking when they were ranked 24th during the 2004 season. The Rams also were ranked as high as third in the Appalachian Region Poll. He also led the Rams to a program-record 13 wins in 2002. Okoh's 2003 team posted a 9-8-3 mark, while his 2004 squad recorded an 11-5-4 record, as the Rams have registered three consecutive winning seasons.
Okoh was appointed by the West Virginia Soccer Association in 2003 as the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Coaching Coordinator for District I. Okoh is responsible for organizing and overseeing training clinics for all age groups for boys and girls. He is also in charge of evaluating and selecting players to represent District I at the regional ODP level.
Okoh came to Shepherd after a successful tenure as an assistant and head soccer coach at the high school level for both boy's and girl's in the metropolitan Washington area. Okoh had coaching stints at the Potomac School, Bishop O'Connell High School, Wakefield High School, and T.C. Williams High School. He also played professional soccer with the Colorado Foxes A-League as a forward from 1991-92. A 1991 graduate of Metropolitan State College, Okoh earned Athlete-of-the-Year honors in 1990. He also was a three-time First Team All-Conference honors. Okoh led his conference in scoring in 1990.
