Shepherd University cheerleader tryouts will be held on May 6, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Butcher Athletic Center. Any perspective cheerleader must attend on May 6 for the informational part of tryouts. Anyone attending tryouts must submit a photo and tryout application (due by 4/15). Video tryouts will also be accepted. All videos are due to the athletic office by April 15, 2006.

You will be judged on the following:

Bring with you:

1. Two sidelines

2. An original 3-4 eight count dance

In Addition:

Jumps

• Double toe touch

• Herkle toe touch

Tumbling

• Toe touch back handspring

• Round off back handspring

Bases

• Demonstrate ability to cradle a double down

• Demonstrate ability to base a basket toss

• Base: lib., stretch, scale and arabesque w/ twist cradle

Flyers

• Demonstrate basket toss

• Demonstrate a full down cradle

• Demonstrate ability/flexibility: Lib., stretch, scale, and arabesque w/ twist cradle

You must have at least two years of high school and/or senior all-star competition experience, and be enrolling as a full time student at Shepherd University to be eligible for tryouts. Please remember to dress appropriately. Tryout results will be posted at the end of the second day. All new and returniing squad members will be required to remain for a brief informational meeting.
