Rams Place Sixth At WVIAC Golf Championship: Bradshaw, Snow Gain All-Conference Honors

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Senior David Bradshaw fired a three round score of 223 (72-75-76) to place fifth individually and lead the Shepherd University golf team to a sixth place finish at the 2005 WVIAC Men's Golf Championship. Concord University shot the day's low round of 302 as the Mountain Lions held off West Liberty State by five strokes to to win the team crown.

The Mountain Lions also claimed the individual medalist after Matt Horn survived a playoff with Ohio Valley's Justin Van Heukelom. Both players finished with 4-over par 220 totals for the 54-hole event, but Horn came out on top on the first playoff hole with a par. Wheeling Jesuit's Brett Hambleton finished third at 221. Matt Hicks of West Liberty State, the WVIAC Player of the Year, placed fourth with a 222. Former West Virginia Open champion David Bradshaw (Shepherd) rounded out the top five at 223.

Bradshaw gained First Team All-WVIAC honors, while Bryan Snow was a Second Team All-WVIAC choice.

Concord receives an automatic bid to the May 1-3 NCAA East Regionals at the Pine Barrens Golf Club in Jackson, New Jersey. As many as five other WVIAC squads are expected to earn spots when regional participants are announced by the NCAA on Friday.

Fairmont State's Reid Amos was named by his peers as the conference's Coach of the Year. The complete All-WVIAC team and final WVIAC Championship standings follow:
