2002 WVIAC Championships
The Shepherd College women's cross country team finished fourth out of 11 schools in the WVIAC Cross Country Championships in Buckhannon. Host West Virginia Wesleyan took the team title with a score of 36 points.
The Rams were led by senior Liz Lowrie (Urbana/Monrovia, MD), who placed 12th in the race with a time of 20:55. She was followed by senior Carol Gill (Woodbridge/Woodbridge, VA) (16th, 21:12), senior Lisa Bailey (Central/Woodstock, VA) (23rd, 21:35), freshman Katie Hembrook (Wetosha Central/Salem, WI) (27th, 21:54), sophomore Karen Chaney (Northern/Owings Mills, MD) (39th, 23:13), and senior Marsha Soergel (Stonewall Jackson/Manassas, VA) (60th, 27:35).
The Shepherd College men's cross country team finished seventh out of 13 schools in the WVIAC Cross Country Championships in Buckhannon. Wheeling Jesuit took the team honors with a team score of 28.
The men's team was led by junior Danny Channel (Tygarts Valley/Valley Head, WV), who finshed 22nd with a time of 28:05. He was followed by freshman Justin Faith (Fort Hill/Cumberland, MD) (29th, 28:35), sophomore Willie Spencer (Thomas Johnson/Frederick, MD) (34th, 28:52), senior Chris McCully (Urbana/Clarksburg, MD) (39th, 29:39), senior Mike Brosenne (Wilde Lake/Baltimore, MD) (50th, 30:42), and senior Michael Lanning (Clear Spring/Clear Spring, MD).
