2000 Dickinson College Invitational

A Missing Link

When more than one person is involved in reaching a common goal, missing just one person can totally throw everyone else involved from that goal.

This past weekend the Lady Rams competed in the Dickinson Invitational in Carlisle, PA. Second runner from the team, Tiffany Moskel, did not compete due to a back injury. Moskel was the missing link, which slightly altered the teams end goal. In a huge race of 281 finishers coming from over 39 schools, the Shepherd women's team only placed approximately 26th. Due to mistakes in the official placing and scoring, all times and places are from reliable Coach Moe's results.

Placing them 26th with approximately 647 points were Liz Lowrie, Lisa Bailey, Jeanette Wilson, Rebecca Keeney, and Marsha Soergel. Leading the way for the Rams was Lowrie who placed 17th with a 19:15. Lowrie felt affected from Moskel's absence as well as the rest of the team. Bailey stepped it up and placed second for the team finishing 126th with a time of 21:14. Wilson finished in a 21:43 placing 158th with Keeney right behind running a 21:45 and placing 162nd. Finishing up the scoring for the team was Soergel who ran a 22:31 and placed 199th.

Back competing again after being absent in the past two meets was Jessica Schneider who finished sixth for the team running right behind Soergel in 205th place. Stephanie Brazell finished up the incomplete team by placing 276th.

The day faired well with cool temperatures, partly sunny skies, and a cool breeze. The course was laid out very nicely with solid packed grass terrain and slightly rolling hills. Winning the invitational was Megan Seifelt from Kutztown in 18:18 followed by second place finisher from Swarthmore College, Jako Agunloye, who ran an 18:22. Right behind those two was third place finisher, Jill Krebs, from Western Maryland running a time of 18:28.

The Rams have an off weekend as they host the Shepherd Homecoming 5K at Antietam Battlefield. Come out and join them this October 14 as registration begins at 7 am and the race start at 9 am.
