Jason Dirting caught six passes for 105 yards, including two touchdowns in Shepherd's 56-6 win over WVU-Tech.

(SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV) -- Travis Lynch (Frankfort/Ridgeley, WV) rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries to lead Shepherd to a 56-6 win over WVU-Tech at Ram Stadium on Saturday.

Junior quarterback Joel Gordon (Waynesboro/ Waynesboro, VA) completed 12-of-24 passes for 167 yards and a pair of scores. Senior wide receiver Jason Dirting (Martinsburg/ Martinsburg, WV) lead all Ram receivers with six catches for 105 yards and touchdowns of 27 and 28 yards. Freshman wide receiver Jamal Gardner (Robert E. Lee/Staunton, VA) added four receptions for 45 yards, while senior tight end Rob Cunningham (Sherwood/Olney, MD) had three catches for 34 yards.

Freshman running back Alex Herbert (Urbana/Monrovia, MD) added 70 yards and a score on 11 carries. Herbert scored his first collegiate touchdown on an 11-yard run in the second quarter. Another freshman running back, Paul Lucas (Sherwood/Olney, MD), added 43 yards on 10 carries, including a 14-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter.

The Shepherd defense was again superb, holding the Golden Bears to only seven rushing yards. This mark was only 12 yards shy of the school single-game record.

Redshirt-freshman linebacker Ron Frazier (Gaithersburg/Gaithersburg, MD) led the Ram defense with six tackles, an interception and a sack. Freshman defensive back Terrance Jenkins (Hayfield/Lorton, VA) returned an interception 84 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

The Ram special teams also got into the scoring act when sophomore Matt Meadows (Hampshire/Romney, WV) blocked a Fadi Hanbali punt and junior Aaron Weikle (Greenbrier East/Ronceverte, WV) picked it up and raced nine yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Shepherd improves to 2-0, 1-0 in the WVIAC, while Tech falls to 1-1, 0-1.

The Rams will travel to St. Joseph's (IN) next Saturday in a non-conference matchup. Local kickoff time is at noon.
