(INSTITUTE, WV) -- Alex Herbert (Urbana/Monrovia, MD) rushed for a career-high 164 yards on 20 carries to help lead Shepherd College to a 40-0 win over West Virginia State in WVIAC action at Institute. The win puts Shepherd head coach Monte Cater (104-57-1) into a tie with Walter Barr (104-48-4) as the school's all-time winningest football coach.

Senior quarterback Joel Gordon (Waynesboro/ Waynesboro, VA) completed 10-of-25 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns. Gordon tied Chad Broadwater (1993-97) as SC's all-time leader in career touchdown passes with 60. Gordon also moved past Damian Beane's career total offense mark of 6,678 yards. Gordon now had 6,884 career total offense yards.

Sophomore wide receiver Jamal Gardner (Robert E. Lee/Staunton, VA) hauled in a pair of touchdowns, including a 70-yard score in the second quarter.

Chad McClintic (Hargrave/Williamsburg, WV) and Demar Atwood (Thomas Johnson/Frederick, MD) led the Ram defense with 11 tackles each. Luke Benchoff (Williamsport/Williamsport, MD) added 10 stops, while Robert Jarvis (Hermitage/Richmond, VA) added nine tackles, including four tackles-for-loss.

Ram kicker Kevin Burkey (Urbana/Ijamsville, MD) tied Fairmont State's Nathan White (1998-2002) as the WVIAC all-time leader in extra points with 132.
