SHEPHERD DROPS WESLEYAN, 3-0

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Senior defender/midfielder Erin Kinnear (Bel Air, MD/Fallston HS) and her sister, sophomore defender/midfielder Lauren Kinnear (Bel Air, MD/Fallston HS), each scored a goals and added assists to help lead Shepherd University to a 3-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in WVIAC Tournament women's soccer action at Shepherd on Monday afternoon.

Lauren Kinnear opened the scoring at the 25:32 mark on a feed from freshman forward Jenn Corkran (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point HS) to give the Rams a 1-0 lead at the half.

Erin Kinnear increased the Ram lead to 2-0 when she scored at the 63:30 mark with an assist from Lauren Kinnear.

Junior forward Jamie Barthelemy (Leesburg, VA/Stone Bridge HS) scored the game's final goal on a feed from Erin Kinnear at the 78:03 mark.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Bell (New Market, MD/Linganore HS) recorded a save en route the shutout win for the Rams. Whitney Hyre had four saves in goal for the Bobcats.

Shepherd improves to 10-9-1, while West Virginia Wesleyan falls to 3-15-0. The Rams advance to face 2nd-seeded Concord on Friday at Concord at 2:00 p.m.

Notes: The 10 wins set a new school record for most wins in a season eclipsing the old mark of nine (2003, 2004). The conference tournament win was the second in program history and the first under head coach Jim Sweeney.
