Brittany Sweeney scored a goal an assisted on two others in Shepherd's 3-0 win over WV Wesleyan.

SHEPHERD WOMEN GAIN FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Sophomore midfielder Brittany Sweeney (Rockville, MD/Magruder HS) scored a goal and assisted on two others to lead Shepherd University to a 3-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in WVIAC women's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday. The win over WV Wesleyan was the first in program history.

Freshman forward Jennifer Corkran (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point HS) opened the scoring on a feed from Sweeney just 22 seconds into the contest. Sweeney scored on a penalty kick at the 39:03 mark to give the Rams a 2-0 lead at the break.

Senior defender/midfielder Erin Kinnear (Reisterstown, MD/Fallston HS) tallied the game's final goal with an assist from Sweeney at the 54:40 mark.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Bell (New Market, MD/Linganore HS) recorded four saves and posted her fourth straight shutout of the year for the Rams. Savannah Dempsey had six saves in goal for the Bobcats.

Shepherd improves to 5-6-1, 2-2-0 in conference play, while Wesleyan falls to 0-9-0, 0-2-0. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Salem International for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
