WESLEYAN ROUTS SHEPHERD

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va -- Shellie Cotton scored four goals to lead West Virginia Wesleyan to an 8-0 win over Shepherd College in women's soccer action at Ram Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rams held tough in the first half trailing only 1-0 at the break on an unassisted goal by Sarah St. Clair at the 43:11 mark.

Cotton scored her four goals and Mary Abu Bakir, Ashley Strawn, and Jen Morril added single tallies as the Bobcats pulled away the second half.

Senior Amy Ridgely (Westminster, MD/Westminster HS) recorded nine saves in goal for the Rams. Krystal Savarino had four saves for Wesleyan.

Shepherd falls to 2-4-0, 0-1-0 in WVIAC action, while West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 4-1-0, 1-0-0. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Charleston for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
