Erin Wilkinson

WILKINSON NAMED FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR; THREE OTHER RAMS GAIN HONORS

PRINCETON, WV --Junior forward Erin Wilkinson (Fairfax Station, VA/ W. T. Woodson HS) was recently named WVIAC Women's Soccer Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-WVIAC honoree. Senior midfielder Theresa Ryan (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven HS), sophomore defender Erin Kinnear (Bel Air, MD/Fallston HS), and freshman midfielder Kyla Heimburger (Purcellville, VA/Loudoun Valley HS) were Honorable Mention selections.

Wilkinson enjoyed a standout freshman season for Shepherd. She topped the WVIAC with a school-record 29 goals and 62 points. The Rams established new standards for wins (9) and goals (77) as Wilkinson was named the WVIAC Player of the Week on three occasions. Although Wilkinson is a junior academically, this year was her first in varsity collegiate competition.

Kinnear was a key on a Shepherd defense that recorded a team record four shutouts in 2003. She registered a goal and an assist for three points this year.

Ryan, a team co-captain, had four goals and four assists for 12 points this season. She scored the game winning goal in Shepherd's 2-1 over Concord.

Heimburger was second on team in scoring with eight goals and a team-high 15 assists for 31 points. Heimburger's 15 assists set a new Ram single season mark.
