FOUR RAMS GAIN ALL-WVIAC HONORS

PRINCETON, W.Va. -- Four members of the Shepherd University women's soccer team were recently named to the 2004 All-WVIAC Women's Soccer Team. Senior forward Erin Wilkinson (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson HS) grabbed first team honors for the second straight year, while freshman defender Brittany Sweeney (Rockville, MD/ Magruder HS) was a second team choice. Sophomore midfielder Jamie Barthelemy (Leesburg, VA/Stone Bridge HS) and junior forward Ashley Gossert (Keedysville, MD/Hagerstown CC) were honorable mention choices.

Wilkinson led the Rams in scoring with 11 goals and two assists for 24 points. She completed a brilliant career as the Ram record holder for most goals in a career (40) and most points (86) in a career. Wilkinson also hold SU single season marks for most goals (29, 2003) and most points (62, 2003). She was WVIAC Player of the Week for September 6.

Sweeney led a Ram defense that recorded five shutouts on the season and allowed 1.55 only goals per game. Sweeney also recorded three goals and two assists for eight points this year.

Barthelemy had four goals and six assists for 14 points, while Gossert had five goals and two assists for 12 points to help power the Ram offense.

Shepherd finished the season with a 9-9 overall mark, including a 4-4 WVIAC record. Head coach Jim Sweeney's team tied the school mark for most wins (9) in a season set in 2003.
