SHEPHERD DROPS HEARTBREAKER IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

NEW CASTLE, DE -- Begum Malili scored on a feed from Sasha Neveras at the 103:10 mark in double overtime to lift host Wilmington College to a 3-2 win over Shepherd University in women's soccer action on Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore defender Brittany Sweeney (Rockville, MD/Magruder HS) gave a the Rams a 1-0 advantage with an unassisted tally at the 16:01 mark.

The Rams increased their lead to 2-0 when freshman forward Jennifer Corkran (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point HS) scored on an assist from junior midfielder Dana Kaufman (Hammonton, NJ/Oakcrest HS).

The Wildcats got on the scoreboard at the 34:12 mark when Amy Wagoner scored on a pass from Stacey Spilman to cut the Ram lead to 2-1 at the half.

Malali scored an unassisted goal at the 55:58 mark to knot the game at 2-2 and force overtime.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Bell (New Market, MD/Linganore HS) recorded 15 saves in goal for the Rams. Catie Joynes had 17 saves for Wilmington.

Shepherd falls to 0-3 on the year, while Wilmington improves to 2-3. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bridgewater for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
