SHEPHERD KNOCKS OFF CHARLESTON, 3-1

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University downed University of Charleston, 3-1, in women's soccer action at Ram Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman defender/midfielder Lauren Kinnear (Bel Air, MD/ Fallston, MD) scored the game's first goal at the 3:00 mark with an assist from freshman defender Brittany Sweeney (Rockville, MD/Magruder HS). Shepherd took a 2-0 lead into halftime as junior midfielder Sarah Bryan (Sterling, VA/Park View HS) scored on an assist from junior defender Cassie Burns (Scarbro, WV/Oak Hill HS) at the 26:12 mark.

Sophomore midfielder Nicole Willett (Manassas, VA/Osbourn HS) gave the Rams a 3-0 advantage on a crossing pass from senior forward Erin Wilkinson (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson HS) at the 55:51 mark.

The Golden Eagles' lone tally came when freshman midfielder Megan Titus (Ravenswood. WV) scored on a feed from junior forward Morgan Church (Hagerstown, MD) at the 71:19 mark.

Freshman Jessica Frankel had five saves in goal for Charleston, while freshman goalkeeper Amy Bell (Frederick, MD/Linganore HS) recorded six saves for the Rams.

Shepherd improves to 2-2 overall, 1-1 in conference play, while Charleston falls to 1-4, 1-1. The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Rowan for a 4:00 p.m. match.
