SHEPHERD WINS AT SOUTHERN VIRGINIA

BUENA VISTA, VA --Shepherd University handed Southern Virginia University a 3-1 loss in women's soccer action at Southern Virginia on Thursday afternoon.

Shepherd took a 1-0 lead at the 48:00 mark when senior forward Erin Wilkinson (Fairfax Station, VA/ W.T. Woodson HS) scored on a feed by freshman defender/midfielder Lauren Kinnear (Bel Air, MD/Fallston HS).

Sophomore forward Jamie Barthelemy (Leesburg, VA/Stone Bridge HS) scored with an assist from senior forward Maria Brown (Washington, DC/Elizabeth Seton HS) at the 71:00 mark to give the Rams a 2-0 advantage.

Sophomore defender Katie Moore (Shenandoah Junction, WV/Jefferson HS) scored at the 89:00 mark on a feed from freshman midfielder Courtney McCauley (Charles Town, WV/Jefferson HS).

Lauren Clarke scored Southern Virginia's lone tally on an unassisted goal in the game's final minute.

Freshman Amy Bell (Frederick, MD/Linganore HS) recorded eight saves in goal for the Rams.

Shepherd evens its record at 4-4, while Southern Virginia falls to 3-4-1. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Ohio Valley for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
