SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Sophomore forward Chrissy Murphy (South Carroll/Woodbine, MD) scored three goals to lead Shepherd College to a 4-0 win over Southern Virginia University in women's soccer action at Ram Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Murphy gave the Rams a 1-0 advantage on an assist from junior forward Kelly Cooper (Westminster/Westminster, MD) with 21:27 left in the first half.
Murphy took a Theresa Ryan (Loch Raven/Baltimore, MD) feed to give Shepherd a 2-0 lead with 13:16 left in the half.
Cooper opened the scoring in the second half with an unassisted goal at the 43:15 mark. Shepherd's final tally came when Murphy scored on a pass from Heather Everhart (Loudoun Valley/Purcellville, VA) with 34:45 remaining.
Shepherd goalie Amy Ridgely (Westminster/Westminster, MD) recorded 10 saves to record her second shutout of the year, while Sonnet Dunn had seven saves for the Knights.
The Rams improve to 3-8-0. Shepherd returns to action on Friday when they travel to Millersville for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
