SHEPHERD FALLS TO MERCYHURST SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Mercyhurst handed Shepherd University a 3-0 defeat in women's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday afternoon. Lisa Casement scored all three goals for the Lakers. Jacque Sluga recored a pair of assists, while Sarah Powell added another. Mercyhurst outshot Shepherd 13-4 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Bell (New Market, MD/Linganore HS) recorded seven saves for the Rams. Rebecca Heintzman had four saves in goal for the Lakers. Shepherd drops to 7-8-1, while Mercyhurst improves to 10-4-0. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to University of Charleston for a noon contest. Notes: Shepherd's contest at Bloomfield scheduled for October 24 has been cancelled.
